Personal Health Budgets (PHBs) are available for people receiving continuing health care. If you receive a PHB you will be allocated a set amount of money to be used for a range of things to meet your health and well-being needs. This might include therapies, personal care, or lifestyle advice. See our page about continuing health care http://equallives.org.uk/info-and-advice/care-and-support/nhs-continuing-healthcare/
PHBs have been created to give you control over your health care letting you decide what is best for you. The aim is to make you feel better, increase your confidence and help you manage your own condition.
In order to receive a PHB you will need to complete a support plan and make decisions around: how you will receive and manage your budget, how you will use the budget to meet your needs, what goals you might have as well as thinking about managing any risks that may occur.
Equal Lives can provide advice and support throughout the PHB process.
You will complete your Support Plan with an officer from the NHS. We can provide support for recruitment and employment of staff from the initial set up through to on-going support. We also run a payroll service and a supported account service. We can set these up and provide regular on-going support with these.
