Relevant Paid Person’s Representative (RPPR)

We provide this service in partnership with POhWER, which is a national user-led voluntary organisation. It is a statutory role, available to people covered by the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards 2008.

The service is available to a range of service users including people with learning disabilities, dementia, acquired brain injury, mental health issues and other needs which lead to a lack of mental capacity. This also includes people with complex communication needs.

The RPPR is expected to support the person to understand their rights to review and access to the Court of Protection, and to provide support in line with the Code of Practice, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. This service is delivered by members of staff only, as this is a contractual requirement and referrals are direct from the Local Authority.
