Well its round to Friday again. It’s been one of those funny weeks when you don’t quite know what day it is because of the Bank Holiday. However, I am reliably informed that yes it is indeed Friday!
This week I went along to the first meeting of a new group in Poringland. The group which met at the School House in Poringland soon got chatting and sharing their experiences.
It was organised by Martin who is the Chair of the Norwich Independent Living group. This was after seeing how well the people in Poringland supported each other over the snowy period.
Individuals coming to the group said that they had welcomed the opportunity to meet up and that their main reasons for coming were to tackle feelings of isolation or loneliness as well as to obtain information and support.
The group are going to meet bi-monthly and if you are interested then please contact Martin: email@example.com
Norwich & Other ILGs
You can also contact Martin on that email address if you are interested in finding out more about the Norwich Independent Living Group. You can also get in contact if you are interested in getting involved in the Rail Access group. They are looking at issues related to all aspects of Rail Travel. This includes Station access, Staff attitude, Online provision of information etc.
We also have other Independent Living groups in Thetford and if you live in the area and would like to know more about the group then contact firstname.lastname@example.org
The Dereham and Watton Independent Living group have launched a new promotional flyer. They are looking for new Members in the area and would also welcome any support and Advice from local Development Workers or other Support Organisations. email@example.com
If anyone in Norfolk would like to set up a group then we would be delighted to hear from you.
The groups are for Disabled People and their Families and Carers to get together to support each other. They provide Peer support, an opportunity to meet new people, to share information and advice. But also to have a good old cuppa and a chat.
For anyone living across the border there is the launch of two New Groups. We now have Ipswich and Lowestoft supported by the Suffolk Coalition of disabled People (SCODP)
Hopefully there is something there for you. Don’t forget the other opportunities in last weeks social media. The Museum of Norwich is looking for people to get involved in a new project. They will be supporting disabled accessibility for Disability Pride. They would like people to go into the museum and interpret it in their own way. This would help other disabled users and audio users with the exhibition layout. The Youth Forum Reunion are putting together a get together for a day.
I will also soon be looking for Disabled Parents of school age children to assist in a piece of work around schools so do drop me an email if you want more information on any of the things in this blog: firstname.lastname@example.org
