The Disability Benefits Consortium has just published a report showing the effect of the recent welfare reforms on the financial security and lived experience of disabled people over the past 10 years. The Consortium is a national coalition of more than 80 different charities and organisations who seek to ensure government policy reflects and meets the needs of all disabled people.
It highlights how disabled people in different types of household are being affected and how this is disproportionate to society oin general. The combined research “has looked at the financial impact and the lived experience of the recent changes to the social security system” and “has exposed the devastating impact the changes have had, since 2010, on disabled people’s wellbeing and right to independent living.”
