Independent Living Groups

Independent Living Groups are groups of disabled people and their carers’ that meet locally to discuss issues with each other in a supportive environment.

“It is a place where I can get information but most importantly a place where you know that you are not alone in the difficult world of “disability”- ILG member

The groups give you the opportunity to share and swap information and talk with peers about issues you may have with the Personal Budgets/Direct Payment process or with anything else to do with living independently. There are also interesting talks/presentations on topical subjects at many meetings.

The groups also provide opportunities to:

  • Access information and advice
  • Find out about self-directed support
  • Share lived experiences
  • Learn from and support each other
  • Hear interesting talks and discussions
  • And much more…!

The groups have the chance to contribute their ideas for shaping services for disabled people in Norfolk.

They meet in:

  1. Norwich
  2. Poringland

All venues are wheelchair accessible. If you cannot make a group meeting you can still get involved by following Norwich  ILG on Facebook
