The Outstanding in The Field project was awarded a Time to Change grant to tackle mental health stigma and discrimination in Norfolk.

Time to Change is England’s mental health anti-stigma programme run by the charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness and is funded by the Department of Health and Comic Relief.

The program gave Equal Lives in partnership with the rural Community Council a grant for a community-led project to improve public attitudes and behaviours in relation to Mental Health. The aim was to bring people who don’t have mental health problems into social contact with those who do.

Equal Lives brought people together to talk about mental health in Cromer, North Walsham and the surrounding areas with mentors in the local community that have a lived experience of Mental Health to give talks at local groups and events, sharing their own experiences in order to promote discussion.

There were two festivals hosted in Cromer and Sheringham that provided activities, complimentary therapies, installations and more delivered by people with mental health experience raising awareness reducing stigma, and promoting inclusivity.

This project ran until October 2014 to find out more please contact us.
