We say Farewell to George Saunders, Co Founder of Norfolk Coalition of Disabled People (NCODP)
“It is with great sadness I have to inform everyone that George Saunders passed away on Sunday (14th). Our thoughts are with George’s friends and family at this very difficult time. Many of you will have fond memories of George through his involvement with access groups, Independent Living groups and NCODP – Equal Lives. His quiet and steadfast dedication to access and independent living has been an inspiration to many disabled and non-disabled people alike. He will be sorely missed as a friend, mentor and valued member of our community. As soon as I have details regarding George’s funeral I will post again, in the meantime please join me in taking a moment to remember him.” – Tom Fadden, Chair of Equal Lives
George will be remembered by many of us not just because of his work at Equal Lives, but because of the groups he supported and his attitude towards the people he met along the way. We wanted to share some of their comments too.
“A true gentleman and champion campaigner, he will be missed”
“He did so much for so many..”
“A true champion for the rights of disabled people”
Thank you George for everything you’ve given us over the years.
Should you wish to attend George’s funeral, it will be at 2pm on the 9th of May at Earlham Crematorium.
