Dereham & District Access Group Open Meeting

Open Meeting Everyone Welcome

Dereham and District Access Group are holding an open meeting to attract new members. This has been booked for 2pm on Tuesday 21st May and will be held at Breckland Council Offices, Elizabeth House, Walpole Loke, Dereham, NR19 1EE, (near Tescos).

This will be a repeat of a similar meeting held in November 1989 when the Group was first envisaged. The meeting attracted much public support and so the group began. Now, over those 30 years, Dereham has improved dramatically in ways that those of us who are disabled are so grateful for. However there is always room for improvement and the need to be vigilant when things slip.

As with many groups our numbers have dwindled over the years and current members are now of the older generation. Younger members would give new insight into how to keep on top of access issues. This would be timely in view of the fact that the Market Towns Initiatives are current and the councils are working on plans for Dereham’s improvements.

Unfortunately, our Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary are having to stand down this year, but we are hoping that we might get some new members at this meeting to keep the group going.

“Those impaired in sight and sound

Just want to find their way around.

Along with all the wheelchair users

They do not want to be the losers.

So help us on our onward fight

To do what’s only just and right!”
